Major in Logistics
and Transportation Management
The Logistics and Transportation Management major at Elmhurst College
includes required survey courses in logistics, transportation management,
warehousing as well as completion of a logistics issues and problem
seminar. An individual will then complete the degree requirements
by choosing additional course work in a major area of interest with
a selection from such electives as carrier management, operations
research, geography, personnel selling, business law, labor economics,
internships, international business and an independent research study.
Elmhurst is the only undergraduate program in the area to offer
a major in logistics and transportation management. Graduates
are
prepared for careers in areas ranging from warehouse management
to sales.
Students seeking a specialized business major in Logisitcs
and Transportation Management are required to fulfill the Business
Core requirements,
and complete a total of five classes including four required core
classes and one elective.

Major in Logistics and Transportation Management
with an Accompanying International Business Minor
Courses in addition to the business administration Core and CBE subject major
requirements for a concentration in international business would include the
following:

Note: Course majors in non-CBE
areas, such as political science or geography, who wish to have a concentration
in international business will need to take
specific CBE-required prerequisites equivalent to a minor in business administration.
Minor in Urban Studies
Individuals in the logistics and transportation
management program will find this an attractive complement to the
basic course work
in business administration and their major. A minor in urban studies
consists of a minimum of 4 courses. In addition to the basic business
Core, three of the following must be completed URB (POL) 202, URB
(POL) 300, URB 401, URB 420, and URB 430.
Minor in Geography
As the marketplace continues its global trend,
logistics and transportation management majors will find a minor
in geography a useful complement
to their basic business Core and logistics curriculum. A minor
in geography consists of a minimum of 5 courses. All minors are required
to complete GEO 101 or 102, GEO 309, and GEO 413. In addition,
individuals
will select one regional course from GEO 311, GEO 315, or GEO 317
as well as one topical system course from either GEO 301 or GEO
302.
