News of Academic Year 2002-2003
- CBE Mentoring Program Kickstarting a New Year
The CBE Mentoring Program
has 33 students enrolled for the 2002-03 year! Our Mentors include
3 marketing executives (one of whom is also an entrepreneur),
2 CPAs, a banker, a finance executive, a diversity training executive, and
a business consultant. Four of our Mentors are alumni of Elmhurst College.
Each Mentor is responsible to meet in small groups with 4-5 students. The
program celebrated its kickoff with a breakfast on September 26,
where students met
their Mentors and began the process of identifying topics for further discussion.
The groups will meet about 4 times between the breakfast and the closing
luncheon in April. Topics often covered in the small groups include
resume preparation,
interviewing techniques, and handling different business situations.

The Elmhurst College Graduate
Program in Supply Chain Management (SCM) has obtained a gift in
the form of software from Logility,
Inc. The software, Logility
Voyager Solutions™, is a fully integrated, comprehensive suite with
modules that provide businesses with the capabilities needed to develop e-business
strategies, power B2B collaborative commerce, and optimize the supply chain.
More than 400 corporations have implemented Logility Voyager Solutions™ in
locations around the world. Heineken USA, British Telecommunications, Sprint
PCS, Subaru of America, Sony Electronics, Pfizer, ConAgra, and Tiffany & Co.
are some among the many prominent firms that use the software. The software
retails for approximately US$ 1 million. The software will be used as a teaching
tool and will be integrated into the curriculum for both the SCM graduate
program and the undergraduate program in Logistics and Transportation Management.
