Business-Related Honor Societies

An honor society is a selective association of primarily collegiate members and chapters whose purposes are to encourage and recognize superior scholastic and/or leadership achievement in broad fields of education or in departmental fields at the undergraduate level. Qualified students from the Center for Business and Economics can participate in two business-related honor societies: Delta Mu Delta and Alpha Mu Alpha.

Alpha Mu Alpha

Alpha Mu Alpha, National Honor Society in Marketing, was founded in Chicago in 1981. The Elmhurst College chapter was established in 1988. The purpose of Delta Mu Delta is to acknowledge outstanding scholastic achievement on a highly competitive basis. For additional information about Alpha Mu Alpha, please visit the national Alpha Mu Alpha website.

Student membership at Elmhurst College is selected from the top 10 percent of all undergraduate students in the business school graduating within the academic year. For additional questions about the Elmhurst College Alpha Mu Alpha chapter, please direct them to:

The purpose of Delta Mu Delta is to promote higher scholarship in training for business and to recognize and reward scholastic attainment in business subjects. For additional information about DMD, please visit the national Delta Mu Delta website.

Student membership at Elmhurst College is selected from the top 20 percent of the student's total class in cumulative grades. Membership is restricted to business and economics students of good character from either the day or evening sessions. These students must be candidates for the baccalaureate degree, who have completed at least one-half of the work required and who have achieved an average combined cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better out of 4 points. At least eight courses or 32 credit hours must have been completed at Elmhurst College.

Membership invitations are generally mailed out to qualified students in the middle of Spring term and the induction ceremony is usually held in May. For additional questions about the Elmhurst College DMD chapter, please direct them to:
